Baked doughnuts

Ingredients:

Dough: 

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 ½ cups sugar

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 1 ¼ cups milk

  • 2 tablespoon butter (melted)

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/2 jar of jam

Topping:

  • 8 tablespoons butter

  • ½ cup sugar

  • Sprinkles

 ​

Method:

1.) Preheat oven to 180 degrees and spray muffin tins.

 

2.) Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl.

 

3.) In a small bowl, whisk egg, milk, melted butter and vanilla in a small bowl.

4.) Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients until just combined.

5.) Spoon mixture into muffin tins (make at least 12). Load a teaspoon up with jam and spoon into the middle, smoothing over the top with dough mix.

 

6.) Bake for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes then knock out of pan.

7.) For the topping, melt butter and combine sugar and sprinkles in a small bowl.

8.) Dip each doughnut in butter, then in the sugar and sprinkles mix.
